Eligibility Criteria


Potential candidates are categorized in two groups:

  • Pakistani National Applicants who have studied (HSSC, SSC or other curriculum system) in Pakistan and holding Pakistani CNIC / Form-B
  • Expatriate Pakistanis /Foreign Nationals/Pakistani nationals living and having studied in a foreign country having Pakistani Origin Card or Pakistani passport/Foreign nationals holding foreign country passport including dual nationality

Eligibility Criteria

  1. Pakistani Nationals
    1. Applicants must have passed HSSC (pre-medical Group) with at least 60% marks.
    2. Candidates who have taken their O-level/A- level exams, an equivalence certificate from the Inter Board Committee of Chairmen (IBCC) Islamabad or regional Offices must be submitted with the application form.
    3. Candidates having recent ETEA marks certificate.
  2. Expatriate Pakistani/ Foreign Nationals
    1. Candidates must possess an Equivalence Cerficate of academic qualifications issued by IBCC Islamabad.
    2. In accordance with the PMDC rules, candidates with qualifications other than those from the Boards of Intermediate and Secondary Education in Pakistan are eligible to apply, provided they have passed three Science subjects in which Biology & Chemistry are essential. Such candidates must possess the following:
      1. SAT II Examination score with a minimum of 550 marks (each subject), in lieu of the Entry Test.
      2. Valid TOEFL or ILETS with a score of 500 or 5.5, respectively if the medium of instruction inthe last two years has not been English.
      3. Equivalence from IBCC (Website: http:// www.ibcc.edu.pk/; Email: ibccpk@ibcc. edu.pk).This equivalence should state that the candidate's achievement is equivalent to a Higher Secondary School (F.Sc. Pre- Medical) qualification in Pakistan.
      4. The equivalence certificate of such a candidate will not be accepted if he/she has not studied the subjects of Physics, Biology and Chemistry in the eleventh and twelfth grades.
      5. Admission will be merit based. The merit includes Matric, F.Sc. (pre-medical) examination/ equivalence results, and the ETEA result.
      6. The eligible applicants from all over Pakistan and foreign countries should apply for admission under relevant categories (refer to Categories of Applicants).
      7. Incorrect information or suppression of facts in the application form shall entail refusal or cancellation of admission.
      8. Candidates selected for admission shall be required to complete the admission requirements within the prescribed period failing which right of admission will be given to the next applicant on the waiting list.
      9. No candidate will be considered admitted unless he/she has paid all the fees and dues by the specified date.
      10. Failing to attend the classes for two consecutive weeks without genuine reason shall entail cancellation of admission.
      11. A student convicted of any criminal offence and/or having served a sentence in jail for the same will not be eligible for admission. Onus of responsibility of non-declaration of such conviction shall lie upon the applicant or the admitted student.
      12. The management committee shall be the final authority to accord approval to the admissions and decide appeals by the contending candidates who could not be recommended for admission by the Admission Committee.


  1. Completed with all respect application forms for admission are accepted for the first year MBBS Class. Application form should be submitted in the office of student affairs section of NWSM within due date.
  2. Short listed candidates shall be required to produce the following documents in original along with two sets of photocopies at the time of interview.
    1. Valid SSC or equivalent certificate from IBCC along with transcript.
    2. Valid F.Sc or equivalent certificate from IBCC along with transcript.
    3. Migration Certificate from respective Boards. (Only for admitted candidates)
    4. Attempt Certificate from respective Boards.
    5. Domicile Certificate..
    6. CNIC of the father/guardian and CNIC / Form B of the student.
    7. 10 passport size photographs with sky blue background (staple on front page of form).
    8. ETEA marks certificate/SAT II result card.
    9. Successful candidate will provide medical fitness certificate as per PM&DC regulations.
    10. Financial statement of the parent/guardian.
    11. Photocopies of the foreign passport of the student/parent applying for Foreign Self Finance seat.
    12. Original undertaking on Judicial stamp paper of Rs. 50/- dually attested by Notary republic as per Specimen given in the prospectus (Only for admitted candidates).
  3. Upon final selection, the original documents of the selected candidates will be retained in the Student Affairs Department of NWSM and will be returned after completion of the course of studies.
  4. The submitted documents will be sent to issuing authorities for verification.
  5. Northwest School of Medicine reserves the right to revoke admission and registration if the information provided by the candidate proves to be incorrect/false or any of the document provided by the candidate found fake or forged and NWSM reserved the right to initiate legal action against the candidate which action shall include criminal proceedings.
  1. If any cerficate / document submied by a candidate / student is found false or forged during his period of study his/her admission shall be cancelled forthwith and legal acon may be iniated against him by NWSM.
  2. Incomplete applicaon form will be rejected.
  3. Every effort has been made to frame the rules under this prospectus as per instrucons, rules and regulaons of PM&DC & KMU yet in this prospectus carries any rule which is in contradicon to the mandatory rules of PM&DC & KMU the same shall over ride the rules of NWSM.

Shortlisting for Interview

Short-listing for interview shall base on the combination of aggregate weightage of:

  1. SSC / Equivalence = 10%
  2. HSSC / Equivalence = 40%
  3. Provincial Entrance Test = 50%

NWSM Admission Interview

  1. a. The interview assesses an array of intellectual and social abilities based on the competencies expected to have been achieved at entry level.
  2. b. Interviews for admission shall be held at NWSM. Candidates shall be required to demonstrate adequate communication skills, proficiency in English, and general knowledge. Their motivation to adopt medical profession shall also be assessed.
  3. c. Interview panel reserves the final rights to accept or refuse admission to a candidate without providing any reason.

Medical Fitness Test

Provisionally short listed candidates will undergo a general medical examination by NWSM appointaed medical board, which shall issue certificate of fitness.

Final Selection

Selection shall be based on review of all above achievements. Successful applicants shall be announced and communicated individually.

Joining the College

  1. a. Joining instructions will be communicated to successful candidates.
  2. b. All such candidates must submit an undertaking on Rs. 50/- Judicial paper (specimen in Annexure “A”).

Weightage for Preparation of Final Merit List will be as under
